The moon brings me joy and comfort. I see the face of my strong independent mother and my fiercely brave and independent paternal grandmother. And of course, the women who came before us and have passed on...those women of many tribes and countries - all fighting to prove women ARE the Woe of Man...the stronger of the human species in all ways that raise up humanity. Men did not like this, so they held us down. No more!
Women of the Moon are all those voices here and beyond saying "We are Speaking".
I love this idea, Jena! My women of the moon -- my mom and grandmother (her mother); Amanda Ripley, Dr. Bernice King, Meggan Watterson, E. Jean, you, Gloria Horton-Young, Lorraine Evanoff, Diane K24, my daughters Dr. Kelly and Sara JP. My dear friends Mish, Mare, Deb, Liz, Claudia, Ros, Viv, Toby, and Judy. Maya Angelou! Mary Oliver. Dr. Clarissa Pinkoles-Estes. Susan B. Anthony. Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Emily Dickinson. I've been making a list from Gloria's poems of women I wanted to learn more about. I love this idea of "Women of the Moon." I have a new list started. =) Your poem is beautiful.
The wonderful thing is I could do one of these portraits for each woman you named (assuming I had a photo). They each deserve it! I just love the idea of us all gathering in the. Moonlight to dance, laugh, sing, read poetry, and celebrate our sisterhood while the moon looked on :-)
Dancing in the moonlight is one of my meditation places (internally). A big roaring fire. A full, gorgeous moon. The ocean nearby. I love the idea of a sisterhood party and your idea of portraits. Hmm! And you’re welcome. You write beautifully.
BUT, please listen to the song I wrote for my children's program, "Song Flight," which is designed to help kids celebrate who they are. I'll be publishing something about this shortly: https://on.soundcloud.com/cnEBdAHBR9h8QgZ67

So beautiful, Kimberly. And so so true!

Thank you for the kind words about my poem.

Oh what a lovely meditation you have going.
And yes the portrait could be powerful....thinking :-)
And Kamala Harris. Duh -- can't believe I forgot to add her. She has been at the forefront of my hopes for our country's future!
Xx
Thank you Malcom.
I was trying to send you a compliment via a song. I will have to put it on a suspended post then copy the audio clip.
Dancing All Night Long.
Late one night she came to me
Singing songs of love
All that night we sang along
Streaming in the night
Dreams of milk and cream.
Oh dancing all night long
Oh dancing all night long
Little moon wheel and turn
Dance while the night still burns
Dancing all night long.
When I go out at night and look
High above the trees
I see you in the sky
Shining on a darkened earth
Sing to me of love
Shining in yhe sky.
Oh dancing all night long
Oh dancing all night long
Little moon wheel and turn
Dance while the night still burns
Dancing all night long.

I'm thrilled you liked it! HUGS.
Again. Beautiful writing, Jena. 😍
Thank you. Big hug (((Gloria)))
I see my mother in everything and who I am.
Awwwww wish I could meet her. What do you think is the most important thing she taught you?
Always be true to myself. Don’t be afraid of being different. Relish it.
Oh....what a wonderful message to impart to your daughter. It shows and shines in you!
Thank you. Hugs 🫂
No, just wrote it yesterday :-)
