Trying to read your stuff but it keeps telling me I have to subscribe… then it tells me I AM subscribed … then it tells me I cannot manage my subscription from Substack. I’m confused now. Help me out here.

Hi Auntie!

The only thing I can figure (since I do not limit who can read my stories based on whether or not you can pay) is that you are subscribed to one of my stacks (probably Pass Along Songs) but not to Whales in My Backyard. Whales is where I am publishing my serialized novel. I post to Pass Along Songs to encourage folks to go read new chapters in Whales. It’s my way of getting more folks over to Whales. I suspect that you will have to subscribe to Whales (it’s free) to read the story. I’m sorry for the confusion and thank you for pointing out what others might be encountering. I will add a note to my Pass Along posts. HUGS!

It’s free? I was already subscribed to that. I thought. But WTH, I just subscribed to something paid and the story is now letting me read it. So I’m confused now (am I subscribed to both?) but at least I’m reading it, lol. Always enjoyable. BTW, if i never told you before, i really loved your story about the cat in Hawai’i. I’ve lived w cats for almost 55 years, and fortunately the love of my life is also a devoted cat person.

Yes, you were subscribed to Pass Along Songs, but not Whales (which was why you were being prompted to subscribe to read the latest chapter of the book there). I can’t thank you enough for the paid subscription. Every little bit helps me keep going :-)

And my Hawaiian kitty, Nell. I still think of her often and am always touched by how the memory of her letting me know my neighbor needed her help. She always came to see me a couple of times a week just to let me know she loved me too. Such a dear soul. Do you have any kitties now?
