I really enjoyed reading your reactions, Molly. I feel the same about Peter Gabriel. There are things he does with his voice that move the song beyond just words or just music. I love "Let It All Go" too because it challenges my assumptions about love.
We will have to come back to the subject of love and its many interpretations. It has always annoyed me that we don't have more words for love. There are so many subtleties to the ways and reasons human beings connect. Reading the letters E. Jean gets has made me realize how people misinterpret emotions like neediness, co-dependency, fear, and self-doubt as love. I'd like to talk about these going forward.
I'm glad you like this format. It seems like a good one, especially when I'm sharing songs that musicians, like PHEMIE, have performed for us. One thing I find really interesting is how MUCH the musician like the idea of performing songs around a theme. I've had some good conversations with them about why they chose their songs. I wonder if they would be willing to answer questions from readers. I could give them a subscription and then ask them to weigh in. Does that sound interesting?
