I’ve known Cylindrian (Grace Newton) for over 14 years now. She is a good friend and stellar musician. She teaches 72 lessons a week at her local music school, plays in three bands, and is helping me write the theme song for “Song Flight.” I adore her and you will too. Oh and in addition to playing guitar and piano she plays the ukulele, accordion, and probably some others as well. She’ll be tickled you like her music.
I am so saddened when humans do not care nor take the time to understand what other humans are suffering and have compassion for them. There is a spectacular selfish narcissim in our society unseen in past generations in America. People are not understanding that we are all literally connected. What happens to Ukraine has a deep effect on all the world politically but most of all on humanity as a whole. The myopic lack of compassion is staggering. It's just not in Ukraine. We are murdering children in their classrooms and everyone is screaming about gun rights instead of our children's rights to have an anxiety free classroom setting. This world. I do not get this world. But I get you. Thank you for being a light. Shine on!
Jennifer you just brightened my day and brought a huge smile to my face. It helps more than I can say to be seen. I am convinced with more than 14 years now working on stories and programs for kids that teach social-emotional skills that many of the issues we’re facing have to do with teaching kids to compete, compare, judge, think some are better or more deserving than others, and that grades are a measure of their worth. We teach them to abandon their creativity and be afraid to fail. We teach them to abandon themselves and then wonder why they don’t care about others or animals or the planet. I think there is a reason we have Trump, Musk, Cruz, McConnell, DeSantis, and the horror of mass shootings. I still hope to find a home for my books and programs and am working on a new little project called Song Flight as part of Songs 4 Ukraine and can’t wait to show you.
