Awww, poor Lucy. Missing her Rocky. Her person must feel her pain as she too grieves. How wonderful you had the opportunity to connect with them through your friend.
Your telling of Lucy's grief and how things like smells and sounds bring us back into memories of those we love us beautiful.
Thank you Kimberly. Lucy and Rocky were real gifts to me. I was introduced at the beginning of the pandemic when being able to be in a wide open space with animals I love was very much needed and appreciated. They comforted me as only horses can.
Aw. Your writing moved me. 🥹 We had one of those trailer moments too, after my mare Omega died. One of my husband's past horses, a mare named Narbonne, is a frequent visitor in my journeying meditations. Omega is there too, sometimes. ❤️
Heartbreaking indeed! That's why when our older guy died (at home, thankfully, contrary to my mare who was euthanized at the vet clinic), his body remained in the pasture for a few days, until the disposal services could pick him up. I covered him with straw and flowers & the other horses were able to check out his body and understand that he was gone. So much better that way!

So you know! They do stay close, and are often just a breath away. I love that - love being reminded.
The trailer moment was so hard :-(

Sweet tale or tails🐴🐴
Thank you Diane. Both horses are dear to me, as is the friend who introduced us :-)
