Honestly Jena, After watching your presentation just now, I am in awe of your creativity, imagination, your beautiful prose( the words spoken in the end of the boat ride to Uncle D's home brought tears to my eyes) and all your good work you did prior to the Covid Collapse is astounding. I have to take a moment to take it all in...but for now I will say thank you for sending the link so that we could view it. My prayers are sent up for you so that your talent can be reached further in work that is both meaningful and bears fruit for you. I say this because I wish I had more clout in life to direct your immense talent so that others could benefit from your abilities. I can see your work being put to good use in children's hospitals where scary information for kids and parents facing cancer get information from interactions such as the one you just did....St. Judes Hospital for Children comes to mind. Just a thought. Thank you Jena for sharing. I am new to this and I am amazed and awed by your talent. I would love a star. Can you imagine every child in a cancer ward in hospital getting a star? I can! 💖 🌟💫✨️
Oh Jennifer. Now I have tears in my eyes along with a whole new idea buzzing around in my head. You must be psychic (surprise surprise) as one of my goals is to get some immersive stories into a virtual world where it is safe for children. And I don’t mean Minecraft (though that’s a pretty amazing place too). But the idea of giving kids receiving cancer treatment a way to immerse themselves and tell stories is WONDERFUL. My niece was diagnosed with what we thought was terminal cancer at 3 so I know what that is like. She not only survived (bone marrow transplant, chemo, radiation, etc.) but is thriving to this day.
Your words of encouragement and appreciation are both kind and wonderfully supportive. Sometimes I feel invisible. Now I know I am not :-) Big Hugs.
Yes Jena, I can see your work helping at St Judes and Shriners Hospitals for Children and Nationwide Hospital to name a few. I can envision you putting together a prospective based on what you learned from your niece's experience and to get in contact with the Hospital marketing folks to get your free prototype out to them to see if they would be interested in a full immersion of your interactive worlds that could help kids going through scary times and treatments. Each child would get their own star on their journey which would guide them. You are incredibly talented Jena. Life has been especially challenging for many of us in many ways especially the past 5 years. I am just one little human out there...but I see you! I honor your creative and brilliant mind and giving heart. I also admire your ability to have an open heart in terribly tough times. We need humans like you on Earth. We really really do.
You know what is SO cool about this idea, Jennifer? When I was working at Intel on their Health and Life Sciences blog, they held a mini-conference with medical professionals and one of them was @Brennan Spiegel, the Director of Health-Services at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he directs the Center for Outcomes Research and Education. As part of that program he uses virtual reality to help patients struggling with a variety of illnesses including chronic pain. He wrote the book, "VRX: How Virtual Therapeutics Will Revolutionize Medicine." As I listened to him speak and watched his videos showing patients using VR I was stunned. It was all soooo familiar. I will see if I can reach out to him and share what I've been doing. He might also have some contacts at St. Judes, Shriners, and Children's Hospital Los Angeles where niece was treated. He lives in Los Angeles. Thank you again for the support and ideas. HUGS!
Well said! Yes, let's look at ourselves not as rivals, but as a global community all working towards harmony, peace, love, equality, freedom, empathy, etc.
Humanity, after all, is the state or quality of being human, which we all are, so no one is better than another unless we allow it to be so.
I really enjoyed your presentation. It was paced well, in a logical order, educated your audience about…how do I describe what I understand not belonging to an an online virtual community… virtual learning and healing.
You should be immensely proud of the work you have done in your life and virtually, and continue to do today. (I know you are). 😘
Well done.....extremely well done, Jena
Thanks so much Auntie E. Does that mean you’d like a star?
