Vice President Harris said something very smart recently. To be clear, she says a lot of smart things, which I plan to share on Pass Along Songs, but this struck me as important:

“…Sadly, over the last many years there’s been this kind of perverse approach to what strength looks like - which is to suggest that the measure of one’s strength is based on who you beat down - instead of what we know: the true measure of your strength is based on who you lift up.” - Vice President Kamala Harris

Harris went on to say “…as a woman who respects so much and wants to share and wants to be confident and has no ounce of competitiveness — when we lift each other up, we all rise.”

I hope we can appreciate what she is saying - that each of us brings something unique to the table - something of value - and that by showcasing one another’s talents and abilities we are building a rich, diverse, and deeply committed community capable of tackling almost any challenge. I couldn’t agree more.
