The newest chapter of the Uncle D story quest was just posted on “Whales in My Backyard.” I hope you will click the link below and join us as we explore the life of someone who lived with HIV and discover how something as miniscule and seemingly inconsequential as a virus can change, shape, and enhance our humanity.
I first started researching HIV in 2009 for a project I was working on for the National Library of Medicine in the virtual world of Second Life. That project ended in 2011 but the creative seeds and questions it planted in me have continued to inform my work. In particular I am intrigued by how stories shared in 3D reality can help us see and explore what it means to be human in physical reality.
In the evolving story of Uncle D - told as both a written story and within a 3D virtual world (yes the two bleed into one another) - I hope to both educate and entertain, raise and answer questions, and inspire everyone who visits to question and revise their relationship to the natural world. Please join us.
