“Focus on the breaths around you - the space between us - that connects us to our choir, our family, to our community.” - Tinā
I stumbled on this trailer for the movie Tinā today and cried all the way through it. It’s about a Samoan teacher who is having a hard time after the loss of a loved one in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. Eventually she is forced to pick up the pieces of her life and reluctantly applies to be a substitute teacher at an elite, wealthy private school. There, she is surprised to find children in desperate need of guidance, inspiration and love.
This is a film I must see of course, but it is also reminded me of the power of music and song to bring us together - to remind us of the central part of our beings that are not and cannot be divided. What might we do together to bring this kind of magic into our own lives and share it with one another - to take down walls and dissolve negativity? I’m open to suggestions and to sharing your voices here.
With love and light,
Jena
We could watch a movie together.
“Focus on the breath in between “ I also am moved deeply thanks for this timely new breath Aloha Jena Ball!
