There’s a note that’s played within us that’s almost never heard
It lives between our heartbeats and the pause between our words
It echoes in our footsteps as we tiptoe through our lives
and hums within our cell walls like bees inside a hive.
The single note is coupled to triads in the seas
the Humpbacks’ mournful serenades sung in minor keys.
It’s played in variations by the Sahara’s shifting sands
and moved to chords by nightfall shadowing the land.
- Cedary, from “The One Note Elegy”
One of the most moving pieces of music I have ever heard!
