“I am here because I'm taking my own advice. As a teacher, you're always sitting on the opposite side of the piano pouring your heart into your students saying, ‘Take the initiative don't get too comfortable. Go for it. Be yourself.’ So today it's about coming out here, taking the initiative, and standing by my students.” - Lachuné
I love this woman.
Not just because she has a beautiful voice, which she does.
Not just because she rocks a beauty that’s outside our cultural norms, which she does.
And not because she had the guts to audition for a show that’s the epitome of judgment and competition, which she did.
I love her because she got up in front of the whole world and shared a message we all need to hear and should be shouting from the rooftops. You and your version of the world matter. Then she proceeded to prove it by putting her own exquisitely nuanced spin on an iconic song - Yellow by Coldplay.
Now I invite you to do the same. Share something that is uniquely you - something that others can hear, read, sing, laugh about, dance to, and offer to others that will make their worlds a little brighter - a little more liveable. And if you’d like to share with me so I can pass your sparks of light along here on my Substack, drop me at line at JenaBall@CritterKin.com.
Hugs!
