“Remember how far you’ve come, not just how far you have to go. You are not where you want to be, but neither are you where you used to be.” — Rick Warren
About a month and a half ago, we embarked on a journey at The Music Road Trip. We called this journey, “Hugs Around the World,” and the idea was to feature a series of musicians performing sets built around the theme of hugs. We wanted to give folks something to look forward to during this holiday season - something that was intentionally thoughtful and focused on love and kindness.
As you can imagine, the themes have been as diverse and interesting as the musicians themselves. Hugs for Healing, Hugs of Thanks, Hugs of Laughter - you get the idea. But none has been more moving or thought-provoking than Lexus Melodie’s “Hugs of Love and Grit.”
Those of you who have heard Lexus perform know that whether she is singing an original or a cover, the song becomes her own. And this concert was no exception. I won’t spoil the pleasure you’ll experience as you listen to the recording of Sunday’s show, but please give yourself the time and space to listen not only to the music but the personal stories and thoughts she shares as well. Lexus is the real deal, and I can’t wait to invite her back.
P.S. The Hugs Around the World concerts will continue every Tuesday evening from 8:00 to 9:00 PM (PST) and on occasional Saturdays and Sundays through December. If you would like to know more, please contact me inworld (Jenaia Morane) or drop me a line at Jenaia.Morane@gmail.com. HUGS!
