The Proprietress was a big fan of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She liked her no nonsense, sensible approach to the law - the way she stood up for what she believed but always did her best to be inclusive. She kept a copy of her favorite Gingsburg quote, “Whatever you choose to do, leave tracks. That means don’t do it just for yourself. You will want to leave the world a little better for your having lived” taped to the wall above her computer.
When Ginsburg passed and the supreme court began to fall into disarray, the Proprietress created an illustration she was never sure she liked. She printed it on only a few dozen white shirts and assumed she’d have trouble selling them. When just the opposite happened, she decided that other women must be feeling as frustrated and outraged as she was when she created it. She printed more.
So tell us, what do you think of the “I Dissent” designs and would you like to see them printed on other colors and/or other items like journals and hats?
UPDATE: Just added blue versions to the available colors (see above) and version one of the design with just the words, “I Dissent” above the left breast pocket. Thanks for the suggestions folks.
P.S. I will be taking two days off to catch up on some other writing. Please do me the favor of sharing Buttons and Bows with family and friends. Thank you!
The news of Musk's fraudulent RBG SuperPAC today. Ugh. 💔
For my money, that phrase is so indelibly linked to RBG that any more fanciful design is just odd. Sorry, not for me.
